Temple University: Simone
Today was such a bittersweet day. This is the day that I knew was going to happen, I just wasn’t sure that I was actually ready for it to happen.
I entered the doors of Temple University and was instantly greeted. The school was filled with a mixture of people. I didn’t have anyone with me, I was all alone in Philadelphia and I was already missing my best friend. I hadn’t spoken to her since I departed this morning. Que wanted to come down, but I told him to allow me to get settled in first.
“Hey Noelle,” I stated as soon as she answered the phone.
“Wassup boo? I am glad you made it safe. Now don’t be down there getting no Philly dick,”
“Girl that is the last thing on my mind plus I haven’t seen anybody that can compare to Que yet,” I stated telling the truth.
Que and I vowed to not mess with anyone else during my time in College. I was his and he was mine. As much as I wanted to believe him I knew he wasn’t going to hold up to his end of the bargain.
“Yeah, well shit you can count me in, Bobbie ass been acting up lately I don’t know what the fuck got into him. So when can I come visit?” Noelle asked me. I wasn’t too sure when she would be able to come down I just know that I couldn’t wait to see her. I told her that I would keep her posted I wanted to call grandma and Que to let them know that I made it down ok.
I spoke to granny and she was saying that she missed me and the house won’t be the same without me. I told her that I would be back before she knew it, getting on her nerves again. I ended the call with an “I’ll see you soon” never a goodbye.
Next I had reached out to Que but I didn’t get an answer from him. I decided to shoot him a text in the meantime.
Me: Hey, I was just calling to let you know that I made it safely give me a call when you can.
“Hi, you must be my new roomie” I heard a voice state from the threshold of the room. I looked up to see a beautiful female standing at the door.
“Yes, I am, Hi, my name is Simone,” I stated extending my hand out to meet hers.
“Nice to meet you, Simone, my name is Charmaine, you can call me Char for short,” She mentioned.
Char and I hit it off instantly, she was into some of the things I was into she even played basketball believe it or not. She didn’t look as if she was capable of handling a ball. We walked around campus and I later learned that she was from Chicago. Life for her was rough living there and she stated she couldn’t wait to come to College. This was like an outlet for her she didn’t have to deal with all that was going on back at home.
